1. Over-corrosion
Over-corrosion refers to the pitting or uneven defects on the surface of titanium alloy after pickling, which is mostly caused by the imbalance of the proportion of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid. Excessive pickling time can also lead to the occurrence of this defect. Generally, the pickling time is 1 to 4 minutes. The process parameters can be adjusted according to the operation site to shorten the pickling time appropriately.
2. Hanging ashes
Hanging dust refers to the oxides attached to the surface of the titanium alloy after pickling. If not removed, it will affect the bonding strength, appearance, and corrosion resistance of the titanium alloy coating. The defect of dust hanging is generally caused by excessive dust deposition during pickling and insufficient rinsing after pickling. The parts should be shaken continuously during the pickling process to make the reaction products fall off the titanium alloy surface. Intensified spraying should also be used after pickling. Remove hanging dust by spraying or rinsing.
3. Striped piebald
Striped spots on the surface of titanium alloys are generally caused by uneven reactions. This defect can be avoided by shaking the parts during pickling and lowering the temperature of the pickling solution.
4. The oxide scale has not been completely removed
There are many reasons for this defect on the surface of titanium alloys, such as poor oil removal, insufficient molten salt treatment time, or ineffective pickling solution. When the oxide scale is not completely removed, possible factors in various processes should be eliminated one by one, and a sandblasting process can be added if necessary.
