1. Classification by main alloying elements

Nickel-copper alloy: an alloy formed by adding copper elements to nickel as the basis, among which Monel alloy is a typical nickel-copper alloy. The nickel content in Monel alloy is generally above 63%, the copper content is about 28% - 34%, and it also contains a small amount of iron, manganese, silicon and other elements. It has good corrosion resistance, strength and toughness, and has excellent corrosion resistance in environments such as seawater and salt solutions. It is often used to manufacture ship parts, chemical equipment, seawater desalination equipment, etc.

Nickel-chromium alloy: nickel and chromium are the main alloying elements, and the chromium content in nickel-chromium alloy is usually between 10% - 30%. This type of alloy has good oxidation resistance and high temperature resistance, such as the common Inconel series alloy. It is widely used in aerospace, gas turbines, heat treatment equipment and other fields, and is used to manufacture high-temperature components such as turbine blades, combustion chambers, etc.

Nickel-molybdenum alloy: nickel is the matrix, molybdenum is the main alloying element, and typical examples include the Hastelloy B series. Nickel-molybdenum alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to reducing media, and has good corrosion resistance in strong reducing acids such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. It is often used in chemical, petrochemical and other fields, and is used for equipment and pipelines that handle reducing acid media.

Nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy: It contains three main alloy elements, nickel, chromium and molybdenum, such as the Hastelloy C series. This alloy combines the oxidation resistance of nickel-chromium alloy and the reduction resistance of nickel-molybdenum alloy, has excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature stability, and can resist corrosion from a variety of chemical media, including oxidizing acids, reducing acids, chlorides, etc. It is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, marine engineering and other fields with extremely high corrosion resistance requirements.

2. Classification by application field

Nickel alloy for aerospace: It is required to have high specific strength, high temperature resistance, fatigue resistance and other properties to meet the use requirements of aerospace vehicles under extreme conditions. Alloys such as Inconel 718 are widely used in key components such as turbine blades, disks, combustion chambers of aircraft engines, as well as structural parts and thermal protection systems of aerospace vehicles.

Nickel alloys for chemical industry: The key is to resist corrosion from various chemical media to ensure safety and stability in the chemical production process. Hastelloy and Monel alloys are often used to manufacture chemical equipment such as reactors, heat exchangers, pipelines, valves, etc., and can operate reliably in corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts.

Nickel alloys for electronic and electrical applications: Kovar is a nickel-containing iron-nickel-cobalt alloy with a thermal expansion coefficient similar to that of glass. It is often used in the packaging of electronic tubes, integrated circuits, etc. to achieve reliable sealing connections between metal and glass.
