Production Process Of Tungsten Carbide Inserts

Sep 05, 2022

Tungsten carbide is a powder metallurgy material, mainly including: tungsten carbide (WC) hard particles, binder metal cobalt (Co) and Ti, Ta, Nb (titanium, tantalum, niobium carbide) hard particles, and after a Series production process: powder production - powder pressing - sintering pressing blade - blade grinding - coating. In the preparation of cemented carbide powder, various metal powders are first mixed, then ground, and finally dried. The extrusion force used in the powder compaction stage is often 20-50 tons.In the next stage, the blade is mainly placed on a tray into a high temperature furnace for sintering, and the shrinkage is checked from time to time. During the grinding stage, the top, bottom and perimeter of the blade are ground to eliminate edge imperfections. The final coating stage may or may not be required, mainly divided into two types: CVD-chemical vapor deposition and PVD-physical vapor deposition. Among them, the CVD coating is thicker, has higher wear resistance and is more heat-resistant. PVD has thinner coatings, sharper cutting edges and higher toughness. We can take the appropriate coating process for the blade according to the actual application field.
