Tungsten-filled stems are used as sinker bars in the petroleum industry. It is a kind of weighting rod filled with the heavy metal tungsten inside. Its density is larger than that of ordinary stems and tungsten filled stem. It can obtain relatively large weight in a short length, but it can not be used for severe shock.

Tungsten Filled Stems used in oil drilling :

Because oil drilling always needs to penetrate into the formation as deep as possible, so that the characteristics of the formation can be obtained. High-performance drilling equipment is very important. It must be heavy and strong enough to balance too much upward resistance and increase the power of descent. In fact, it must act as a counterweight for the entire device.

Because the density of tungsten alloy products is as high as 18.5g/cm3, the hardness is as high as 36 HRC; wear resistance, impact resistance, and durability make tungsten alloys suitable materials for drilling groundwater and oil and gas equipment. The special mechanical properties here have surpassed those of many other materials. The high density allows heavy bars to achieve the required weight without excessive length.
