Overview
Tungsten Carbide Spheres, also known as tungsten steel balls, are spherical products made primarily from high-hardness refractory metal carbides, such as tungsten carbide (WC) and titanium carbide (TiC), using micron-sized powder as the main component. Cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo), and other binders are added through powder metallurgy. These spheres are widely used in precision bearings, instrumentation, oil extraction, marine engineering, aerospace, and defense and military applications. We can supply customers with the YG, YN, YT, and YW series, and we can also produce custom items based on drawings.

Characteristics
High hardness
The hardness of tungsten carbide can reach 1600-2300 HV, and the compressive strength can reach more than 6000 MPa. This makes it outstanding in high-friction, strong-impact, and strong-wear environments.
Good high-temperature stability
The melting point is as high as 2870℃, and it can maintain good structural strength in an environment above 800℃, and has strong resistance to deformation and creep.
High density
Tungsten carbide has a density of 14.5-15.6 g/cm³ (approximately 4.5 times that of steel), a property that makes it irreplaceable in scenarios requiring high inertia or counterweight.
Strong chemical stability
It exhibits good resistance to corrosive media such as acid and alkali or media such as seawater and oil at room temperature, and is not easily oxidized in high-temperature environments.

Application
- Mechanical manufacturing: high-speed precision bearings (such as those used in aircraft engine bearings and CNC machine tool spindle bearings), ball screws, and linear guides can reduce wear and extend bearing life.
- Valve components: high-pressure ball valves (oil pipelines, natural gas transportation, offshore drilling platforms), corrosion-resistant valves (chemical pipelines), and high-temperature valves (metallurgical industry) can ensure the sealing and service life of valves.
- Material processing: grinding and polishing processes for ceramics, sapphires, and magnetic materials, as well as ball mills for ore crushing.

Process
①Select high-quality tungsten carbide powder and cobalt powder, and mix them evenly in a drum mixer.
②Fill the mixed powder into a spherical mold and press it into a blank ball, or inject it into a more complex shape.
③After vacuum sintering, the density can reach 98-99.9%, and the hardness is HRA 89-93.
④Use a drum ball mill or a double-disc grinder to grind the blank into a nearly spherical shape through rolling extrusion of the abrasive.
⑤Mirror polishing on a polishing machine, the final surface roughness can reach Ra＜0.05μm.
⑥Annealing treatment to eliminate internal stress, improve toughness, and reduce the risk of cracking during use.
⑦Comprehensive quality inspection, such as surface inspection, diameter tolerance, compressive strength, etc.
