Overview
Tungsten carbide is a compound composed of tungsten and carbon. It is a black hexagonal crystal with a metallic luster and a hardness similar to diamonds. It is a good conductor of electricity and heat. Compared with traditional crucible materials such as ceramics, quartz, or graphite. Characteristics
Ultra-high hardness
The hardness of cemented carbide can reach 89-95HRA (equivalent to 68-82HRC). When smelting, sintering, or grinding high-hardness materials (such as rare earth metals, magnetic materials, and refractory materials), the inner wall of the crucible is not easily scratched by friction or impact, ensuring a good finish.
Excellent high temperature resistance
The melting point of tungsten carbide is as high as 2870℃, and the melting point of cobalt is about 1495℃. They can still maintain stable physical properties (such as strength and hardness) above 1000℃, and have high thermal conductivity, which can conduct heat quickly and evenly to avoid cracking caused by local overheating.
Strong corrosion resistance
Cemented carbide has good corrosion resistance to most molten metals (such as iron, copper, aluminum, and their alloys), molten salts (such as carbonates, fluorides), and acidic media. WC itself has strong chemical stability and is not easy to undergo replacement reactions with molten materials.
Long service life
Due to its excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance, its service life is usually 5-10 times that of ceramic crucibles. Especially in continuous production scenarios, it can reduce the frequency of shutdowns to replace crucibles and improve production efficiency.

Application
1. Metal smelting
① Melting and casting of precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum. Tungsten-cobalt alloys are resistant to corrosion by precious metals, and the cobalt bonding phase is not easy to react chemically reacted with precious metals at high temperatures, avoiding material contamination. At the same time, the smooth inner wall of the crucible can reduce metal residues.
② Because of its strong resistance to corrosion by non-ferrous metal melts, it can be used for the smelting of aluminum, copper, zinc and their alloys, such as melt treatment before aluminum alloy die-casting.
③ Small-scale smelting of steel materials such as high-speed steel and die steel, or laboratory-level preparation of nickel-based high-temperature alloys (such as Inconel).
2. Semiconductor preparation
① Used for sapphire crystal growth, its thermal shock resistance can avoid crucible cracking during crystal growth.
② Due to its low impurity precipitation characteristics, it can remove trace metals in single-crystal silicon to ensure the purity of silicon materials.
3. Powder metallurgy
Used for melting and granulation of refractory metal powders such as tungsten powder and molybdenum powder before pressing. YG crucibles have good wear resistance and can reduce the introduction of impurities caused by powder wear.
Process
① Select WC powder or TiC powder, and cobalt powder according to the crucible usage scenario, and mix them evenly.
② Use high-precision cylindrical molds and press them on hydraulic presses to ensure uniform density.
③ High-temperature sintering and liquid phase sintering, cobalt melts to form a liquid phase, fills the gaps between WC particles, and promotes densification.
④ The outer wall is precisely ground, and the inner wall is electrochemically polished or ultrasonically cleaned to improve the surface finish.
⑤ Comprehensive quality inspection, such as dimensional accuracy, purity, strength, non-destructive testing, etc.
Type
1. YG series crucible
YG series has a bending strength of 1300-1800 MPa, good toughness and impact resistance, suitable for non-ferrous metal (aluminum, copper, cast iron) smelting, precious metal (gold, silver) melting, and laboratory high-temperature synthesis.
2. YT series crucible
The YT series has stronger high-temperature softening resistance and is very suitable for steel material (high-speed steel, mold steel) smelting, sapphire crystal growth, metal powder sintering, etc.
