Spot welding electrode belongs to a class of resistance welding electrode. Resistance welding mainly refers to the use of current through the welding part and the contact of the resistance heat as a heat source to locally heat the welding part, and at the same time pressure welding method. When welding, there is no need to fill metal, high productivity, small deformation of weldparts, easy to realize automation.
1. Quality requirements for spot welding joints
First of all, the joint should have a certain strength, which mainly depends on the size of the molten core (diameter and welding penetration), the metal microstructure and defects of the molten core and its surrounding heat-affected zone. The strength of spot welded joints of most metal materials is only related to the size of the molten core. During spot welding, due to poor blank preparation (such as wrong hem, fillet radius does not meet the requirements, etc.), poor assembly of components, poor rigidity of the electrode arm of the welding machine, etc., welding structure defects will be caused, and this defect will also bring quality problems, and even waste products. Therefore, appropriate metal materials should be selected to make spot welding joints, such as tungsten or tungsten alloy materials.
2. Cleaning and dressing method of spot welding electrode
The electrode cleaning cycle should depend on the material of the electrode and the material of the weldment. Welding electrodes of the same material, the electrode of AC power supply is more likely to be contaminated than the electrode of DC power supply.
If the electrode surface has oxides, dirt and slight wear, it can be polished and trimmed with a flat plate with a rubber pad on the emery cloth. If the wear and deformation of the electrode surface are large, the file can be used to correct; When the electrode produces greater wear and deformation, a new electrode should be replaced.
When welding aluminum alloy, the electrode surface is slightly oxidized and polluted, it should be cleaned immediately, otherwise, it will reduce the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy.
Most spot welding electrodes are made of tungsten copper alloy material, which combines the advantages of tungsten and copper, such as high temperature resistance, arc ablation resistance, high strength, specific weight, good electrical and thermal conductivity, easy cutting, and sweat cooling.
