Rollers are divided into hot rolls and cold rolls.
1. Hot rolls only roll red-hot rolled pieces; hot rolls are directly cast after melting in a smelting furnace, and generally do not require forging. Hot rolls are mainly used in the processing of billets, thick plates and steel sections. It withstands strong rolling force, severe wear and thermal fatigue. Hot rolls are only normalized or quenched as a whole, and generally do not undergo surface quenching.
Working conditions: Hot rolls often operate in a high temperature environment of 700℃-800℃, and they can withstand strong rolling forces.
1. The hot rolling roller material must have high hardenability
2. It must have a low thermal expansion coefficient
3. It must have high thermal conductivity and high temperature yield strength;
4. It must have high oxidation resistance and high temperature creep strength;
5. It should have excellent tempering resistance and uniform surface hardness, etc.
2. Cold rolling rollers only roll cold rolled pieces. They are usually cast after melting in a smelting furnace and often need to be forged. Cold rolling rollers include cold rolling working rollers, intermediate rollers and support rollers. Since cold rolling is cold rolling and the working conditions are harsh, the quality requirements for cold rolling rollers are very strict. Cold rolling rollers usually require surface quenching with a hardness of HS45-105.
Working conditions: Cold rolling rollers need to withstand large rolling cycle stress, strong friction, etc. during operation.
1. The roller surface must have high and uniform surface hardness, usually greater than 62HRC
2. A deep hardened layer is required, and the hardness of the roller edge must be relatively low;
3. The roller neck has a lower hardness
4. The cold rolling roller must have sufficient resistance to cracking and peeling caused by torsional stress, bending stress, and shear stress;
5. It should have high wear resistance, contact fatigue strength, fracture toughness, and thermal shock strength.
