Overview
Tungsten Roller is a crankshaft made of tungsten alloy or cemented carbide. It can play the role of transmission, corrosion resistance, shock absorption, and balancing weight in various industrial equipment such as automobiles, airplanes, ships, CNC machine tools, photolithography machines, chemical equipment, nuclear power equipment, high-temperature furnaces, etc., to ensure the safe and stable operation of the entire equipment.
Characteristics
Good high-temperature performance
The melting point of tungsten is as high as 3422℃. It can maintain stable mechanical properties in extremely high-temperature environments and is not easy to soften, deform, or melt.
Excellent wear resistance
Very high hardness (typically 200 - 400 HV) and low coefficient of friction, providing excellent resistance to wear and surface damage.
Strong corrosion resistance
High density, extremely high inertial mass, and impact resistance can maintain structural stability under high load and high-speed conditions.
Strong corrosion resistance
Tungsten has good corrosion resistance to most acids, alkalis, and molten metals, and it hardly reacts with any chemical substances at room temperature.

Application
- Aerospace: Used as shock absorbers, balance, and transmission components in rocket engine nozzles, gyroscope rotors, aircraft brake systems, and other components to ensure the reliable operation of equipment under extreme working conditions.
- High-temperature industry: In the transmission system of high-temperature electric furnaces and vacuum coating equipment, it can be used as a transmission component or heating element to avoid material failure caused by high-temperature.
- Semiconductor manufacturing: Used as a precision rotating axis in photolithography workbench, ion implanter, and etching equipment, it meets high precision requirements and has good anti-electromagnetic interference performance.
- Machining: Mainly used as an ultra-precision grinding wheel axis and a diamond tool rotating axis, it can reduce wear from long-term high-speed operation, reduce vibration error, and maintain processing accuracy.
- Petrochemical: Tungsten Roller is used for transmission components in chemical equipment that are in contact with corrosive media and bearing components of deep-sea exploration equipment, meeting the dual needs of corrosion resistance and wear resistance to ensure production efficiency.
The role of the Tungsten Roller in the rolling mill
1. Help the rolled piece to plastic deformation: the roll through direct contact with the rolled piece, using its weight and the pressure generated by rotation, forcing the rolled piece to produce plastic deformation. This deformation is a key step in the rolling process, allowing the rolled piece to be rolled into the finished product with preset shape and dimensional accuracy.
2. Withstand high temperature, high pressure, and high impact: In the rolling process, the roll must not only bear rolling force but also bear rolling torque and dynamic load. Especially in the hot rolling process, the rolling temperature is very high, and the roll needs to use coolant to cool, which makes the working conditions extremely harsh.
3. Guide the correct entry and exit of rolled parts: Other parts on the mill are usually used to install, support, adjust, and replace the roll, and guide the correct entry and exit of rolled parts, which can ensure the continuity and efficiency of rolling.
Process
① Reduce high-purity tungsten powder through chemical reaction or add trace elements to evenly mix tungsten alloy powder.
② Use a mold to cold isostatically press into a blank rod and sinter in a 1400-1600℃ vacuum furnace to increase density.
③ The Extrusion process is suitable for small diameters, the forging process is suitable for processing large diameters, and the rolling process is more suitable for high-precision fine shafts.
④ Perform machining processes such as cutting, grinding, electric spark, and laser processing to improve dimensional accuracy.
⑤ Surface treatment (grinding and electrolytic polishing) and annealing treatment (eliminating processing stress).
⑥ Strict quality control, such as appearance inspection, non-destructive testing, mechanical testing, etc.
