Material selection and processing
We use high-quality beryllium materials through a series of processes including powder metallurgy, repeated rolling, high-temperature pressure leveling, pickling, surface treatment, cutting and final performance testing. Its purity is usually required to be very high, such as more than 99.98%.
Characteristics
1.High X-ray transmittance
Among all metals, beryllium is the lightest stable metal with the strongest ability to transmit X-rays. It is known as metallic glass, which allows X-rays to penetrate the window more efficiently, thereby improving transmittance.
2.Good processing performance
The thermal expansion coefficient of beryllium is comparable to that of stainless steel, with good welding performance and good thermal conductivity. At the same time, metal beryllium can be made very thin, with the thinnest window only a few dozen microns thick.
3.High mechanical strength
Can withstand the high temperature and high pressure generated when the X-ray tube is working, ensuring the stable operation of the equipment
4.Strong corrosion resistance
Beryllium can react with oxygen at room temperature to form a thin layer of protective oxide film on its surface. When using it, pay attention to whether there is an acidic atmosphere in the use environment. If so, a protective film needs to be applied to the beryllium window.
5.Strong ability to maintain a vacuum environment
Beryllium windows can effectively isolate the outside atmosphere from the vacuum, preventing gas from entering and destroying the vacuum state, thereby ensuring the efficiency and service life of X-rays.
Application
Window of X-ray Tube is mainly used in X-ray equipment, especially X-ray fluorescence spectrometers and X-ray tubes. It can ensure the sealed vacuum state of the equipment and increase the transmittance of X-rays to improve the accuracy of the measurement results.
The thickness selection needs to balance strength and stability according to the actual application equipment. Although a beryllium window that is too thin can increase the transmittance of X-rays, it is not strong enough; a beryllium window that is too thick will affect the penetration effect of X-rays.
