Iridium is a shiny silver-white transition metal, and pure iridium is easy to crack at high temperature, so its welding performance is poor. To improve the ductility, plasticity and workability of pure iridium, we can add small amounts of metals titanium and zirconium (about 0.2% each). As an important pure iridium product, iridium sheets have the characteristics of high melting point, high hardness, excellent corrosion resistance, strong high temperature resistance and long service life.

Iridium is often used as an alloying addition to form iridium-platinum alloys, iridium-titanium alloys, iridium-osmium alloys and iron-iridium alloys with other metals, and to improve the strength, hardness and corrosion resistance of alloys.Pure Iridium sheets can be widely used in aerospace, automotive, petrochemical, metallurgical manufacturing, food processing and pharmaceutical industries. Pure iridium sheets are an ideal spark plug tip material and thermocouple material, which is mainly used to make high temperature iridium crucible for extracting sapphire single crystal.
