Overview

Platinum Wire Electrode is an electrochemical electrode with high-purity platinum wire (usually purity ≥99.95%) as the core conductive and reaction components, with excellent chemical inertness, high conductivity and excellent electrocatalytic performance, it can work stably for a long time in harsh electrolyte environments such as strong acids and alkalis, and almost does not occur autolysis or interfere with the main reaction, and is widely used in laboratory and industrial scenarios such as electrochemical analysis, sensors, fuel cell testing, and trace sample electrolysis.

• Platinum is a noble metal with extremely stable chemical properties; it is capable of resisting corrosion and degradation even in harsh environments inhabited by strong acids and bases.
• Platinum has a higher electrical conductivity than common electrode materials such as graphite, allowing it to conduct electrons more efficiently. This results in improved efficiency during electrochemical reactions and measurements, leading to faster and more consistent outcomes.

1. Electrochemical analysis and detection
Basic electrochemical research: As a working electrode, the Platinum Wire Electrode is widely used in electrochemical analysis methods such as cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry to study the redox properties, reaction mechanisms, and kinetic parameters of substances.
Conductivity measurement: As the input electrode of the external power supply of the conductivity cell, it can accurately measure the conductivity of the solution with the conductivity cell to detect the conductivity of the solution.
2. Industrial anti-corrosion
Pure platinum wire is used as an auxiliary anode applied to a cathodic protection system, which is applied to the anti-corrosion protection of metal components such as seawater, fresh water, soil, etc., such as docks, ships, heat exchangers, etc.
3. Energy conversion and storage
Water electrolysis to produce hydrogen: As a cathode catalyst, hydrogen is efficiently precipitated in a water electrolyzer for proton exchange membranes.

Temperature measurement and control: Platinum resistance thermometers are made using the characteristics of platinum's resistance and temperature in a highly linear relationship, which is one of the most accurate temperature sensors (such as Pt100).
In heating environments that require high temperatures, cleanliness, and pollution-free conditions, Platinum Wires can be used as heating elements for tube furnaces, high-temperature microscopes, crystal growth devices, and more.
 

Process

(1) Select high-purity platinum material, and carry out mechanical sorting, chemical impurity removal, and vacuum annealing treatment of the returned furnace material.

(2) Put the platinum material into the furnace and heat it until it melts at high temperature, then pour it into the mold to cool to form the desired shape.

(3) Compress platinum through the rolling mill to form plates or wires, and control the deformation of the pass between 5%~10%.

(4) The platinum material is stretched through the mold to form a slender filament, and the diameter can be finely controlled to 0.052mm.

(5) The drawn platinum wire is sent to the annealing furnace for high-temperature heating to improve ductility and toughness, and reduce residual stress.

(6) Rinse the surface with deionized water first, and then use different mesh metallographic sandpaper for mechanical polishing to reduce roughness.

(7) Quality control and testing of the whole process, such as purity testing, mechanical property testing, catalytic activity testing, or surface quality, etc.
