Molybdenum TZM Round Bar Rod Description

Material selection

TZM, also known as molybdenum zirconium titanium alloy, is the most commonly used type of high-temperature molybdenum alloy material, with alloy composition of Mo-0.5, Ti-0.07-0.12%, Zr-0.01-0.04C. Trace amounts of titanium and zirconium are added to molybdenum to form a trace element alloying alloy to remove the grain boundary embrittlement phase through its solid solution strengthening, and its reactants (TiC, ZrC) act as dispersed phases to strengthen the alloy and improve its performance.

Processing procedures

1. Arc melting-casting method:

First, pure molybdenum is melted. Then, appropriate amounts of titanium (Ti) and zirconium (Zr) alloy elements are added according to weight percentage. TZM rods are formed using conventional casting methods.

2. Powder metallurgy technology:

Use high-purity molybdenum powder and other metal powders to mix evenly in proportion. After cold isostatic pressing, high-temperature sintering is performed under a protective atmosphere to obtain TZM billets. Subsequently, rolling, forging, annealing, cutting, surface treatment and final performance testing are performed to obtain finished rods.

Application

Molybdenum TZM Round Bar Rod is particularly often used in various high temperature and high strength fields, such as rocket nozzles, hot stamping dies, hot runner nozzles, kiln structural parts, brackets and fixtures, heat exchangers, high temperature furnaces and hot isostatic presses and other high temperature equipment.
