Molybdenum is a refractory metal with a high melting point (2620℃) and good high-temperature strength, electrical and thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and low expansion coefficient. It is a key material that takes into account both high temperature stability and comprehensive mechanical properties. Characteristics

Good high-temperature performance

The melting point of molybdenum is as high as 2620℃. It can maintain stable mechanical properties in a high-temperature environment (even over 1000℃) without obvious softening or deformation, and its oxidation resistance is better than most low-melting-point metals.

Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity

The electrical conductivity of molybdenum is about 35% of that of copper, and its thermal conductivity is about 50% of that of copper, which is a medium-high electrical/thermal conductivity level among metals. It can meet the requirements of high-temperature electrical conductivity and structural support at the same time.

Strong chemical stability

Molybdenum has good corrosion resistance to air, water, most non-oxidizing acids (such as hydrochloric acid), and alkaline solutions at room temperature, and is only easily corroded in strong oxidizing media (such as concentrated nitric acid and aqua regia).

Excellent ductility

Molybdenum materials can be processed to extremely thin thicknesses through rolling, curling, stamping, welding, and other processes, while maintaining uniform dimensional accuracy and surface finish, making them easy to integrate into precision components.

Application

1. High temperature furnace and heat treatment industry

As heating elements, furnaces, or supporting structures, using their high temperature resistance to replace easily oxidized metals in vacuum furnaces and sintering furnaces to extend the service life of equipment.

2. Electronics and semiconductor industry

Semiconductor chip manufacturing: as a substrate, lead frame, or heat sink for sputtering targets, using its high thermal conductivity and high temperature resistance to adapt to high temperature processes (such as ion implantation and annealing) in chip manufacturing.

Vacuum electronic devices: as electrodes or shielding materials in picture tubes and X-ray tubes, using their low vapor pressure and conductivity to avoid volatiles at high temperatures affecting device performance.

Process

This process mainly converts metal molybdenum (usually molybdenum powder or molybdenum plate as raw material) into thin strip products through a series of physical and chemical methods. Its core is to achieve material thinning, strengthening, and performance optimization through plastic deformation and heat treatment.

① Prepare high-purity molybdenum powder and put it into the mold, and press it into a green billet with a certain shape and density under high pressure

② Sinter in a high-temperature furnace to diffuse and combine the molybdenum powder particles to form a dense molybdenum billet, while removing residual gas and impurities.

③ Hot rolling and cold rolling are used in combination to gradually reduce the thickness through multiple rolling passes.

④ Intermediate annealing is required after every 2-5 rolling passes to eliminate the work hardening and internal stress generated during the rolling process.

⑤ Surface treatment (chemical cleaning, electrolytic polishing, mechanical grinding) improves surface finish and corrosion resistance.

⑥ High-precision shearing is performed according to customer requirements, and a quality inspection certificate is provided.
