The processing of metal wire

Dec 19, 2024

1. Material preparation:
Select suitable metal wires, such as wire rods, wire blanks or metal bars, and cut and clean them to ensure the quality of the materials and suitability for processing.
2. Surface treatment:
Surface treatment of the metal wires, including mechanical cleaning of the surface rust, pickling and phosphating, boron coating, and then drying, in preparation for the next step of processing.
3. Drawing process:
Using wire drawing equipment and dies, the metal wire is pulled out of the die hole. This process can produce non-ferrous metal wires with small cross-sections. During the drawing process, the size of the metal wire is accurate and the surface finish is very good.
4. Hot working:
The drawn wire is forged and rolled at high temperature to refine the grain structure and improve the mechanical properties of the material.
5. Cold drawing process:
Processing large diameter bars or plates into fine wires usually requires multiple cold drawing passes, and intermediate annealing after each cold drawing pass to eliminate stress and restore the plasticity and ductility of the material.
6. Surface treatment (optional):
Pickling or electrolytic polishing of cold drawn and annealed wires to remove scale and impurities, improve finish, corrosion resistance and surface quality.
7. Straightening and sizing:
Ensure that the straightness and length of the wire meet customer requirements, and conduct strict performance testing, including mechanical properties, surface quality and dimensional accuracy.
