1. Production process
(1) Powder metallurgy: By compressing metal powder into a mold, sintering and other processes, it mainly includes mixing, pressing, sintering, post-processing and other links. Sintering is the key link. According to different requirements and materials, hot isostatic pressing, hot coaxial pressing, plasma sintering and other methods can be selected.
(2) Casting: By injecting molten metal into a mold, cooling and solidifying to form parts, it mainly includes mold preparation, smelting, pouring, cooling, demolding and other processes. Compared with powder metallurgy, the process is relatively simple. However, the control requirements for the process are high, and it is easy to be affected by external factors and produce defects. Subsequent heat treatment and other processes are required to improve the performance of the parts.
2. Material properties
(1) Powder metallurgy: Since powder metallurgy technology can use a variety of metal powders to manufacture parts, it can produce parts with complex shapes and internal structures, as well as parts with different properties, such as high strength, high hardness, high temperature, wear resistance and other properties.
(2) Casting: The precision and strength of large or small parts manufactured by casting technology are not as good as those of powder metallurgy technology. However, its material cost is relatively low, which makes it suitable for the production of large quantities of parts.
3. Application fields
(1) Powder metallurgy: Powder metallurgy is widely used in the manufacture of parts with special performance requirements such as high strength, high wear resistance, high oxidation resistance, and high temperature, such as in aerospace, automobile, medical equipment, electronics and other fields.
(2) Casting: Casting is mainly used to manufacture large-scale and simple-shaped parts, such as automotive parts, machine tools, steel plates and other industrial products.
