Classification of titanium wire

Mar 03, 2025

Titanium wire is a metal wire with titanium as the main component. Its purity is usually above 99%. It is made into a wire product with a certain diameter and length through a specific processing technology. It has the advantages of good plasticity, good toughness, high tensile strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, good biocompatibility, etc. It can be widely used in aerospace, electronics, petrochemical, and medical fields.
1. Classification by purity
Industrial pure titanium wire: The purity is generally between 99.0% - 99.7%, containing a small amount of impurity elements such as iron, oxygen, carbon, and nitrogen. Industrial pure titanium wire has good processing performance and certain strength, and the cost is relatively low. It is widely used in general industrial fields, such as chemical equipment, power engineering, etc.
High-purity titanium wire: The purity reaches more than 99.9%, and the impurity content is extremely low. High-purity titanium wire has better corrosion resistance, high plasticity, and low interstitial element content. It is mainly used in fields with extremely high requirements for material performance, such as aerospace, the electronics industry, and other high-end fields.
2. Classification by alloy composition
Pure titanium wire: It is composed only of titanium elements. Its outstanding features are good corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. It is widely used in implants in the medical field.
Titanium alloy wire: Other alloy elements such as aluminum, vanadium, molybdenum, tin, etc, Are added to pure titanium. Different alloy elements give titanium alloy wire different performance characteristics. For example, Ti-6Al-4V alloy wire is a common titanium alloy wire. The addition of aluminum improves the strength and heat resistance of the alloy, and vanadium enhances the processing performance and toughness of the alloy, making it used in the aerospace field to manufacture aircraft structural parts, engine parts, etc.
3. Classification by use

  • Medical titanium wire: It has extremely high biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, and good mechanical properties to ensure safe and stable use in the human body environment. It is commonly used to manufacture cardiovascular stents, orthopedic implants (such as bone plates, intramedullary nails, etc.), dental implants, etc.
  • Aerospace titanium wire: It needs to have high strength, low density, high temperature resistance, fatigue resistance, and other properties to meet the use requirements of aerospace vehicles under extreme conditions. Commonly used in the manufacture of aircraft wing beams, landing gear components, engine fan blades, and other key structural parts.
  • Titanium wire for chemical industry: Mainly used in corrosion-resistant environments, such as reactors, pipelines, heat exchange, rs, and other components in chemical equipment. Titanium wire is required to have good corrosion resistance to various chemical media and to be able to work stably for a long time in corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts.
