OVERVIEW

Stellite 6 Electrode is a cobalt-based cemented carbide electrode. Its core components are as follows: Cobalt is the matrix element, which gives the material excellent high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. The chromium content is about 25%~30%, forming a passivation film to improve corrosion resistance and thermal oxidation resistance. The tungsten content is about 3%~5%, strengthening carbide precipitation and significantly improving wear resistance and hardness. The carbon content is about 1.0%, which forms hard carbides (such as Cr7C3, WC) with tungsten and chromium to enhance the support of wear-resistant particles.

CHARACTERISTICS

Super wear resistance

The hardness at room temperature reaches HRC40--45, and the hardness retention rate at high temperature (650℃) exceeds 70%. It is resistant to particle wear, adhesive wear, and abrasive wear. It has a long service life.

Excellent thermal performance

It has good high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and thermal shock resistance, and is not prone to thermal fatigue cracks in high temperature gas and flue gas environments.

Good chemical stability

It is resistant to corrosion from seawater, steam, organic acids, and medium-concentration sulfuric acid and nitric acid. It is especially suitable for media containing chloride ions and can perform stably in various harsh corrosive environments.

Excellent processing performance

It has certain plasticity and can be processed by cutting, grinding and other processes to meet the needs of different shapes and sizes. It is easy to weld and can be connected with various metals through various welding processes with high welding quality.

APPLICATION

Stellite 6 Electrode is very suitable for surfacing processing in fields such as welding, and can be used for welding high-temperature valves, high-end molds, wear-resistant parts, key heat-resistant parts, seawater corrosion-resistant parts, and corrosion-resistant sterile parts. It not only helps key parts resist the influence of high temperature, friction, and wear, but also ensures the stable operation of the entire equipment.

Stellite 6 Welding Electrode can be used for welding carbon steel, stainless steel (304/316), nickel-based alloys (Inconel 625/Hastelloy C-276), cobalt-based alloys (Stellite 21/12), copper alloys, titanium alloys (TA2/TC4) and other metal materials.

1. Industrial valves: high-temperature and high-pressure steam valves, chemical medium stop valves, and submarine valve sealing surface surfacing.

2. Energy industry: turbine blades, steam valve sealing surfaces (such as main steam valves, regulating valves).

3. Petrochemical: high-temperature slurry pump impellers, valve seats, nozzles, and gas turbine blade edges in oil refining catalytic units.

4. Mechanical manufacturing: hot forging molds (die-casting molds, copper alloy extrusion mold cavities), the surfacing layer made of Stellite 6 Welding Rod can reach 10,000 to 20,000 hours of life.
5. Aerospace: combustion chamber parts, turbine guide blades, propeller shaft sealing surfaces, which can resist high temperature corrosion and impact wear.

6. Marine engineering: pump shafts of desalination equipment, heat exchanger tube sheets, and propeller edge surfacing.
7. Medical devices: wear-resistant coatings for orthopedic implants. The cobalt-chromium alloy structure of Stellite 6 has no risk of nickel ion precipitation.
8. Food machinery: aseptic filling machine valves and stirring paddles are not affected by acidic foods and steam sterilization. The corrosion resistance of the passivation film of Stellite 6 is better than that of 316L stainless steel.

 

PROCESS

① Put cobalt, chromium, tungsten, and other metals into a vacuum induction furnace in proportion for smelting, and mix them thoroughly in a ball mill to ensure uniformity of composition.

② Form the welding core by compression molding or hot isostatic pressing, and remove rust and oil from the surface to ensure cleanliness.

③ Evenly coat the coating powder on the surface of the welding core through an extruder and dry it.

④ Cutting and grinding processing, and strict quality control and performance testing.
