Zr-2.5Nb (Grade R60904) is a binary alloy with niobium to increase the strength. The alloy has been utilized for pressure tubes in CANDU reactors.
Zirconium Niobium Alloy Rod, a binary alloy based on zirconium and adding element niobium, the basic composition is Zr-1%Nb and Zr-2.5Nb%. A zirconium alloy based on zirconium and adding niobium is a high-quality nuclear engineering material. The addition of zirconium can increase the strength of the alloy without affecting the plasticity and workability of the alloy, and can also improve the oxidation resistance and alkali metal corrosion resistance of the alloy.It has good corrosion resistance to acids, alkalis and salts. It has good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties for high temperature and high pressure water and steam at 300~400℃.
The more mature zirconium-niobium alloys are Zr-1%Nb alloys, which are used as fuel element cladding materials and heavy water reactor pressure tube materials, and Zr-2.5Nb-0.5Cu alloys are used as spacer materials between pressure tubes and vessel tubes. The yield strength of Zr-1%Nb alloy is 50% higher than that of pure niobium, and it has the same corrosion resistance as pure niobium in many solutions.
Application:Zirconium niobium alloy rods are often specified as an important material for piping systems used in the chemical, petrochemical, and oil and gas processing industries, and as a base material for lithium coolant boundaries, reactor shells, and components within fuel shells. Zr-1%Nb alloy is the most widely used low-strength niobium alloy. Its processing and welding properties are very excellent. It is mainly used in aerospace, atomic energy reactors, electric light source sodium lamps and other applications.Zirconium niobium alloy rods are often used as structural materials for aero-engines and rocket nozzles, accessories and brackets for high-temperature vacuum furnaces, various corrosion-resistant parts under nitric, hydrochloric or sulfuric acid corrosion conditions, as well as reactor internal parts and coating materials.
