Overview
Molybdenum Discs are disc-shaped key components made using the excellent high-temperature performance of metal molybdenum. Its main and core application is as a carrier base for wafers or materials in high-temperature vacuum or specific atmosphere (especially MOCVD), which is indispensable in the fields of semiconductors (especially LEDs), photovoltaics, high-temperature heat treatment, glass manufacturing, etc.
The size can be customized, with common diameters ranging from a few millimeters to hundreds of millimeters, and thicknesses ranging from thin sheets (a few tenths of a millimeter) to thicker blocks (tens of millimeters). Characteristics
Excellent physical properties
High melting point, compared with other metal materials (such as steel, aluminum, etc.), its oxidation resistance and creep resistance at high temperatures are better. Mo also has high hardness and strong wear resistance, which prolongs the service life of the material.
Good electrical and thermal conductivity
The electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity are at medium-high levels among metals (the electrical conductivity is about 35% of copper), and it can still maintain stable electrical and thermal conductivity properties at high temperatures.
Excellent corrosion resistance
At room temperature, Mo has good corrosion resistance to air, water, various acids (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, except hydrofluoric acid), and alkaline solutions, and is not prone to chemical reactions.
High cost performance
Compared with other refractory metals such as tungsten, molybdenum has a relatively low price and better processing performance (easy to roll, forge, etc.). While meeting the requirements of high temperature, high strength, etc., it can effectively reduce production costs.

Application
1. Aerospace
It can be used as a high-temperature resistant structural part in the combustion chamber, nozzle, and other parts of aircraft engines and rocket engines, or used in combination with other high-temperature alloys to improve the heat resistance and stability of the parts.
In spacecraft communication systems, it can be used as core components such as anodes and gates to ensure that the devices work stably under vacuum and high temperature.
2. Electronics and semiconductors
Molybdenum Disc can be used as a target or shielding part in the ion implantation process, which can withstand high-energy ion bombardment and high temperature, and its low vapor pressure characteristics can avoid contamination of wafers.
In chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD) equipment, they can be used as substrate supports and heat shields to ensure the uniformity and purity of thin film deposition.
In the heat dissipation substrates or electronic packaging materials of high-power chips and LED devices, it can quickly conduct heat to ensure the normal operation of electronic equipment.
3. High-temperature furnace equipment
It can be used as a multi-layer heat shield in sintering furnaces and annealing furnaces (using the high reflectivity of metal to reduce heat radiation loss), and is suitable for high-temperature heat treatment scenarios above 1600℃ (such as ceramic sintering and metal powder metallurgy).
It can be used as the furnace bottom plate, crucible support, etc. of high-temperature equipment, which can remain unchanged under long-term high temperature and is not easy to react with the processed materials (such as rare metals and special ceramics).
4. Energy and photovoltaic industry
In the coating process of solar panels, Mo disc can be used as sputtering targets to form molybdenum-based conductive films through sputtering to improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency of batteries.
It can be used as an electrode substrate in the electrolyzer of hydrogen fuel cells, which can withstand electrolyte corrosion, promote hydrogen and oxygen ion conduction, and improve electrolysis efficiency.
5. Petrochemical industry
It can be used as reactor lining, pipeline flange, etc., which can withstand corrosive media and is particularly suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure chemical reaction environments (such as fertilizer production and fine chemical synthesis).
In high-temperature catalytic reactions (such as reforming reactions) in the petrochemical industry, molybdenum round sheets can be used as catalyst carriers to extend the service life of catalysts.
6. Precision Manufacturing
For high-temperature materials (such as glass and ceramics) that require high-precision molding, molybdenum plates can be processed into molds. They have high-temperature hardness, good wear resistance, and are not easy to adhere to the molding material, ensuring the dimensional accuracy of the product.
Process
①Select Mo powder with appropriate purity (usually purity must reach more than 99.95%) and uniform particle size.
②Put the pretreated mo powder into a mold of a specific shape and press it into a circular blank with a certain shape and size.
③For products with higher requirements, isostatic pressing can be performed after die pressing to further improve the density and compactness of the blank and reduce internal pores.
④High-temperature sintering process densifies the blank to form a sintered blank with certain strength and density.
⑤Use CNC lathe to rough turn and mill the sintered circular plate to remove the surface oxide layer and excess parts to make the size close to the design requirements.
⑥Anneal under vacuum or inert gas protection to eliminate processing stress and improve the plasticity and toughness of the material.
⑦Use precision lathe for fine turning and fine grinding to accurately control the diameter, thickness, flatness, and surface roughness of the finished product.
⑧After surface grinding or polishing, comprehensive quality inspection is carried out, such as appearance inspection, performance inspection, dimensional accuracy, etc.
