Properties and applications of Hastelloy C276 alloy materials

Hastelloy C276 is a Ni-Cr-Mo alloy, considered to be the most versatile corrosion-resistant alloy, with a nominal chemical composition of 57% nickel, 16% chromium, and 16% molybdenum, reduced C and Si content and added iron, tungsten, and cobalt.

  • Excellent physical and chemical properties

1. Excellent corrosion resistance: Hastelloy C276 can maintain good corrosion resistance in various corrosive media, excellent resistance to spot corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking

2. Excellent high-temperature resistance: Haselloy C276 has excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures up to 1900°F (1038°C) and can maintain stable structural and mechanical properties without plastic deformation and damage, so it is widely used in high-temperature reaction equipment, such as high-temperature reactors, heat exchangers, pipelines and so on. Not recommended for use in extreme oxidizing environments, such as those presented by concentrated hot nitric acid.

3. Strong stress corrosion cracking resistance: Hastelloy C276 has a high-stress corrosion cracking resistance, can withstand the combined effect of large mechanical stress and environmental corrosion, and will not cause stress corrosion cracking problems.

4. Good machinability and weldability: Hastelloy C276 has good machinability and weldability, can be cold working (such as sheet metal processing, metal cutting, etc.) and hot working (such as hot forming, forging, etc.), and is easy to weld with other materials, so it can meet the diversified and complicated manufacturing needs of chemical equipment.

5. Long life and low maintenance costs: chemical equipment made of this material can extend the service life of equipment, reduce the frequency of equipment maintenance and replacement, and reduce maintenance costs and production downtime.

  • Application field

1. Chemical industry: It is widely used in the manufacture of various corrosion-resistant equipment, such as chemical reactors, distillation towers, storage tanks, pipelines, and valves. It can withstand a variety of corrosive media and high temperatures, while reducing the frequency of repair and replacement, and improving the service life of the equipment.
2. Oil and gas industry: It is widely used in oil exploitation, refining, natural gas processing, and transportation. It can resist hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and other corrosive substances to the corrosion of equipment, such as oil well casing, pump shaft, pump body, gas turbine blades, etc.
3. Aerospace industry: Used to manufacture components of turbine engines and gas turbines, such as blades, combustion chambers, and nozzles. It has excellent high-temperature strength and fatigue resistance, ensuring the safe operation of the engine in high-temperature and high-pressure environments.
4.
