Titanium material is one of the materials with the highest strength-to-weight ratio among all metals. It has the characteristics of wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, good toughness, low elastic modulus, good compatibility with human body and non-magnetic properties. Titanium rods are made of sponge titanium after forging, rolling, vacuum annealing and polishing. They are mainly used for the main parts of medical equipment, shafts, solid parts, stirring shafts, etc. In aircraft, titanium alloys are mainly used to manufacture main force-bearing components such as adapter rings, landing gear, engine blades, compressor discs, hubs and joints.
The forging materials of titanium rods are mainly pure titanium and titanium alloys of various components. The original state of the materials is titanium rods, titanium ingots, metal powder or liquid metal. Generally, round bars or square bars are used as blanks for small and medium-sized forgings. If the grain structure and mechanical properties of the bar are uniform and good, the shape and size are accurate, and the surface quality is good, it is convenient for mass production. As long as the heating temperature and deformation conditions are properly controlled, high-quality titanium forgings can be forged without large forging deformation.
The ratio of the cross-sectional area of the metal before deformation to the cross-sectional area after deformation is called the forging ratio. Correct selection of forging ratio, reasonable heating temperature and holding time, reasonable initial forging temperature, final forging temperature, reasonable deformation amount and deformation speed are closely related to improving product quality and reducing costs.
The purpose of titanium rod processing and rolling is to grind parts and abrasives in dilute acid or alkali with corrosion inhibitor, and follow the rotation of the drum to obtain a bright appearance. This method is suitable for handling small parts and parts that are not easy to polish. Proper selection of rolling standards can improve productivity and quality.
