How To Fix Metal Nuts

Feb 20, 2024

A nut is generally a fastener that is commonly used in conjunction with screws, studs, bolts, etc. Common nuts include internal hexagonal nuts, external hexagonal nuts, dome nuts, diamond nuts, etc. Nuts play a role in connecting and fixing, sealing and protecting, adjusting positioning and transmitting kinetic energy in various industrial equipment. There are several ways to fix nuts:
1. Add flat washers
Washers refer to the parts that are padded between the connected parts and the nuts. It is generally a flat metal ring used to protect the surface of the connected parts from scratches by the nut and disperse the pressure of the nut on the connected parts.
2. Spring washer
Spring washers are widely used in load-bearing and non-load-bearing structures of general mechanical products. They are characterized by low cost and easy installation. They are suitable for parts with frequent assembly and disassembly. However, the anti-loosening ability of spring washers is very low.
3.Self-locking nut
General nuts will loosen themselves due to other reasons such as vibration during use. To prevent this phenomenon, self-locking nuts were invented. The functions of self-locking nuts are mainly anti-loosening and anti-vibration, and are used in special occasions. Its working principle is generally self-locking by friction. According to their functions, self-locking nuts are divided into those with nylon rings, those with neck closures and those with metal anti-loosening devices. They are all effective torque type anti-loosening nuts.
4. Nut anti-loosening fluid
Apply nut anti-loosening fluid to the tightening area of the bolt, and then tighten the nut to achieve the anti-loosening effect.
5. Double nuts (left and right rotation) to prevent loosening
A left-hand nut and a right-hand nut are used to tighten and prevent loosening.
6. Drill holes for screws and nuts and fix them with pins
In machinery, pins are mainly used for assembly positioning, and can also be used to connect and relax overload shear connections in safety devices. Pin types include cylindrical pins, tapered pins, holed pins, cotter pins and safety pins, etc.
