Application
1. Vacuum Coating Technology
When it is necessary to deposit a metal film (such as aluminium, silver, or gold) onto the surface of a substrate (such as glass, metal, or plastic), the metal material to be evaporated is placed in tungsten evaporation boats. The boats are then heated electrically, utilising tungsten's high melting point to cause the metal material to evaporate under heat, forming vapour that condenses and deposits onto the substrate surface, thereby completing the coating process. Application scenarios include optical lens coating (to enhance light transmittance or reflectivity), decorative coating (e.g., surface beautification of furniture or jewellery), and functional coating (e.g., conductive layers for semiconductor devices).

Process
① High-purity tungsten powder is cold-pressed through a mold to form a boat-like blank, which is then sintered at high temperature.
② The sintered tungsten blank is forged or rolled at high temperature, using the mold's shape to plastically deform the tungsten sheet, forming the basic outline of the boat.
③ When the tungsten boat has special features (such as grooves, through-holes, or irregular edges), machining is required using lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other equipment.
④ Annealing in a vacuum or inert gas environment eliminates internal stresses and improves plasticity and stability.
⑤ Electropolishing or mechanical grinding further refines the surface, reducing roughness and improving surface finish.
