OVERVIEW
Ceriated Tungsten Electrodes are a tungsten electrode material with wolfram as the matrix and cerium oxide (Ce₂O₃) as a dopant. It has become the preferred material for welding operations in aerospace, automobile manufacturing, the electronics industry, medical equipment, and other fields. Its application value is even more prominent in scenarios with high requirements for safety and precision.
CHARACTERISTICS
Excellent arc performance
The addition of cerium oxide reduces the electron work function of wolfram, making it easier to start an arc and maintaining a stable arc shape. The weld has uniform penetration depth and width, a high surface finish, and reduces subsequent grinding processes.
Strong versatility
It performs well in DCEN, DCEP, and AC welding, and can cover a wide range of scenarios from micro-arc welding (such as less than 0.5A) to medium and high current welding (such as hundreds of amperes).
No radioactivity
Traditional thoriated wolfram electrodes are radioactive and may cause potential harm to the health of operators if used for a long time. However, cerium wolfram electrodes do not contain radioactive elements and are environmentally friendly materials. They do not require special protection during operation and storage.
Long service life
Cerium oxide can enhance the high-temperature stability of the wolfram matrix, reduce the evaporation and splashing of wolfram, reduce the electrode loss rate, extend the replacement cycle, further improve production efficiency and reduce consumables costs.

APPLICATION
Ceriated Tungsten Electrodes are suitable for a variety of welding methods, such as tungsten inert gas shielded welding (TIG welding, also known as argon arc welding), plasma arc welding, etc., and are compatible with the welding of various metal materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper, titanium, etc., which can meet the needs of micro welding and improve the stability of welding quality.
- Aerospace: used for precision welding of aircraft fuselages, engine components (such as turbine blades, combustion chambers), missile shells, etc., and the connection of spacecraft structural parts (aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, high-temperature alloys).
- Automobile manufacturing: welding of automobile body thin plates (stainless steel, aluminum alloys), welding of structural parts of rail transit vehicles (high-speed rail, subway) (such as frames, door frames).

PROCESS
① Select W powder and cerium oxide (CeO₂) powder with a purity of ≥99.95%, and control the ratio according to the electrode model (such as WC20 contains 2% CeO₂, WC15 contains 1.5% CeO₂).
② Press the mixed powder into a rod-shaped blank with a certain shape and density, and densify the blank by high-temperature sintering while removing impurities.
③ Hot forging or rolling the blank to refine the grains, improve the density and mechanical strength of the electrode, and then anneal it for subsequent precision processing.
④ Process the blank into a finished product (such as a pointed head, round head, flat head) that meets the requirements of use by turning or grinding to ensure surface accuracy and dimensional tolerance.
⑤ Surface cleaning, grinding or polishing to ensure that there is no impurity residue.
⑥ Comprehensive quality inspection, such as component inspection, appearance inspection, arc stability test, etc.
