The chemical properties of hafnium are very similar to those of zirconium. It has good corrosion resistance and is not easily corroded by general acid and alkali aqueous solutions; it is easily soluble in hydrofluoric acid to form fluorine complexes. Metal hafnium has a larger thermal neutron capture cross-section, is an ideal neutron absorber, and is more suitable as an ideal control rod for nuclear reactors than zirconium rods. Hafnium (Hf) Rod often adopts powder metallurgy process, and attention should be paid to the processing technology in the separation process of zirconium and hafnium, which is also to further improve the purity and tensile properties of hafnium products.
