Description:Monel 400 Round Bars known as UNS N04400 Round Bars and "Alloy 400", is a corrosion-resistant solid solution nickel-copper alloy with the largest dosage, the most widely used and excellent comprehensive properties,which is mainly formulated in proportions of nearly 67% nickel and 33% copper. Monel 400 has the advantages of perfect finish, high weldability and machinability, high tensile strength, high ductility, strong corrosion resistance and long service life, and generally doesn’t produce stress corrosion cracks and has good cutting performance.
Monel 400 can be welded by gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc or shielded metal arc processes using the appropriate filler metal. Moreover,monel 400 round bars can be hot or cold formed into any shape and can be fully annealed at 1470°F without requiring additional bulk heat treatment to rebalance the internal structure of the alloy, although pickling is usually required to produce bright and clean surfaces.
Application:Nickel-copper alloys are very resistant to corrosion in salt water or seawater, with low corrosion rates in fast-flowing saltwater or seawater, and have excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in most fresh water, as well as corrosion resistance to a variety of corrosion conditions,making them widely used in marine industry. For example, it can be used in ship piping systems, pump shafts and seawater valves.
